Big Shark Cycling Photography Exhibition

A Cycling Photo Exhibition was hosted by Big Shark Bicycle Company Saturday night, Dec 4th and by anyone's standard should be considered a captivating  success. The event had the feel and buzz of a art gallery opening rather than your typical bike shop promotional event.

The Belgium Brewing Company supplied the beer and if success is measured in considered by kegs, it was a two keg evening over a 4 hour period. No official head count was taken but I'm guessing the greatest number in attendance at any one time was about 150 visitors maxing out between 7:30 pm and 8:00 pm. Will this become an annual event? Look for another in 2005.

Guests brought spouses, dates and their pets. Some dressed upscale while others looked like they showed up directly from whatever they were doing at the time to view photography made available by: Daniel Elavsky, Matthew James, Phillip Shoulberg, Chuck Hardy, Kim Morris, Matt Cazalas and myself, John Musselman.

As a photographer I found my myself amazed by these glamorous full sized color prints most of which were available for sale. Instead of displaying prints, I burned 400 photos on a CD and displayed them through a TV. But I felt the real players in the room had their goods hanging on the walls. Next year I've got to up the benchmark to maybe a Power Point presentation (complete with music) displayed on a big screen.

The event transcended beyond cycling into something distinctive. These photos don't show the real story because I was busy talking (no jokes please) most of the evening. Most guests showed up and stayed longer than they envisioned because it was just fun to hang out with their buddies and create new friends.

Thumbs Big Shark!
