France’s virulent anti-gay movement is now targeting the Tour de France.
After protesting France’s new same-sex marriage law during Sunday’s French Open final, the protest group calling itself Hommen is promising to use the 21-stage Tour as a platform for its message.
According to a web report from The Atlantic, which describes Hommen as a “homoerotic anti-gay group in France,” the group promises not to disrupt the race or otherwise hamper the event, but instead vows to line the side of the road with its members.
Unlike Rolland Garros, which is held inside a controlled stadium, the Tour is held on open road, which could prove troublesome for race organizers.
The Tour is often the target for protest groups, which sometimes block roads and threaten to stop the race.
