In the third annual Great Egyptian Omnium (GEO), riders will once again race through the area of southern Illinois known as “Little Egypt” (so-called because of the confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi rivers at Cairo, Illinois, which resembles the Nile Delta). Saturday will see the GEO kick off in Creal Springs with a challenging 20 mile loop Bike Surgeon Road Race and 7.5 mile Don Luna Time Trial. Then, on Sunday, the GEO welcomes riders to southern Illinois with a wide-open Continental Tire Criterium on the campus of John A. Logan College in Carterville.
